The Basic Rule of Tchoukball
If we talk about the basic rules of this sport, there are some elements including court, ball, and scoring. We explain each of them below.
The size of the court which is usually used is 27 m x 17 m. But, it does not limit to this size. There are variations to the size such as in beach tchoukball where the size of the court is 21 m x 12 m. The frame of one rebound is put at each end of the field of play. Then, in front of each frame, there is a D shaped semi-circle which measures 3 m in radius which needs to be drawn. This semi-circle defines the limits of the forbidden zone. The part of the zone itself are the lines of the zones. The line which marks the semicircle forbidden zone is a part of the forbidden zone and the line around the whole court is a part of the court.
How about the size of the ball which is used in this sport? It depends on the category of players. The size of balls are different. It ranges from a circle of 54 cm to 60 cm and has a weight between 325 grams to 475 grams.
In this sport, there are two teams of 7 players each which compete to score points with the team. The team who can get the most points at the end is the winner of this game. When a team gets a point, control of the ball will be moved to the other team.
In this sport, either team is able to score at either end of the court. A point will be scored if there is a ball which rebounds after hitting either of the 2 frames and touches the ground outside the forbidden zone, any part of the defending player’s body below the knees or if it touches the defending player when he is still in the forbidden zone. When the attacking team shoots and misses the frame or the ball rebounds outside the playing area, a point is given to the non-attacking team. If there is a shot which is caught by the defending team, the defending team is able to proceed to attack quickly.
